What is a Brand Kit?
Update on by katigetssocial
I like to think of a brand kit as your brand/company/organization’s design bible. It’s a resource that contains visual assets and use case parameters. Having this as a PDF or PowerPoint will be important to ensure cohesion when interacting with internal/external teams, marketing agencies, advertisers, etc.
A brand kit is the “what to use” part of a brand’s guidelines which includes visual assets, tone, and how the brand/company/organization wants to be represented across print, audio and visual mediums.
A Brand Kit Includes:
- Logos and watermarks in high resolution forms
- Brand colors with HEX codes
- Brand typography
- Example imagery
- Approved textures and attributes (for example, our company likes geometric shapes)
- Contact information
Brand Guidelines Include:
- Company’s tone/writing style
- Brand’s purpose (why you exist/what you do), vision (where you want to go/goals), mission (what you have to do to achieve goals), values (principles/ethics/behavior)

There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.
